Nike Logo Sweatshirt + $1000 Target Giftcard

I wanted to post these photos that were taken about a month an a half ago or so, when I first started my training program. In my mind I am a little soft, and my legs aren’t as lean as I would like them to be. My face even looks a little puffy. But what can I say, this technically was after the holiday binge. Not to mention, that a sweatshirt covers a lot!

I sound a little depressing, but I think that is what started motivating me to work out again. 100% honest, I was not happy with how I looked, and I have said a million times I am super hard on myself. Since I have started working out with Trainer Kelli, I have so much more motivation and I feel so much better. It’s not even about “being skinny” or looking a certain way. I do want to be in shape and I want to feel good in a swimsuit this summer, but working out has been such a great outlet for me mentally that I am so happy I started!

Training Update and Titika Active Ashleen Crop Top and Seya Leggings

Today I have another update on my recent workout plan!  If you haven’t read any of my previous posts, I’ve been working out with Trainer Kelli and her fitness app Level 212 Fitness. I’ve upped my workout schedule from three workouts a week to four to five. I’m going to be 100% honest in this post. I’m tired. Working out, especially when you haven’t been consistent for a long time, wears you out. I am sore. I keep asking everyone if that ever goes away or if you get used to it. I’m also frustrated. I think I’m in that transitional phase where my body is still getting used to everything. I feel like I’ve been working out so hard, but it’s hard to see my progress right now. But I can feel it.

Albion Fit Watercolors and a Giveaway!

This is a hard post for me. I have been extremely lazy about working out this year. I had been swamped with work and blogging, and I was just exhausted. One of the first things to go was the gym. I just didn’t have time. Besides the fact that my body obviously did not stay in shape, I noticed a huge change in my mood. You know the whole endorphins thing (think Legally Blonde)…well it’s true.

The past few weeks I have been working with Trainer Kelli through the Level 212 Fitness App. I’m starting to see some progress already, but I think the biggest change is that my mood has improved! I feel happier and like I have more energy. I always thought I would get more tired if I worked out, which happened at first, but overall I feel much better and have much more energy during the day. I also sat down with Kelli this week and we went over how important wellness in all aspects of our lives is to our health! While I am working out with her app about 3 times a week right now, I am adding some wellness components to my training. My project for this week was to make a list every night of the things I like about myself. Surprisingly and sort of sadly, this was really hard for me. But as the week has been going on it’s getting easier. Which is also why I decided to do this post.

When I first got these photos back I did not want to post them. I am not in shape. I am soft. My arms aren’t toned and my jeans don’t fit right. I have always been small, but there is a big difference between being skinny and being in shape. I have struggle with being unhappy with how I look for a long time. I have tried extreme diets and I have gone about “getting skinny” in some unhealthy ways in the past. With Kelli’s training plan I am hoping that I can adopt some healthy ways to get in shape! I hope this will be motivating to you guys as well! So I decided to still post them because I am trying to have a healthier view of myself. I don’t need to continue to dwell on or list all of the things I dislike about my body, but I can work on improving them. This is where I am starting. This is a good motivator to get back in shape and improve myself as a whole. I think being able to feel about myself mentally is just as important as keeping my body healthy and in shape. I can’t wait for you guys to come along on my journey and see the results!

My 2017 Guide to Wanting to Working Out

How many of you are like me and find yourself lacking motivation to work out? I would love to be one of those people who is super consistent and super motivated. Working two full time jobs limits my time and sometimes I’m just so exhausted when I get home. I have made it a goal this year to try and be more consistent! I love working out, but sometimes I fall out of the habit and it’s harder for me to start again. So I’m going to try to make it a habit again! I have put together a little list of ideas to help you gain motivation and maybe even trick yourself into liking working out. If I can trick myself for a month, then I’ll probably be back in the habit and will be back to loving it! IMG_6279(My first workout of 2017!!!)

Try Something New! 

Sometimes doing the same thing over and over can get mundane. I love trying new classes and new exercises to see what I love the most. For example, I recently just started working out with an online trainer! At first you may think that getting a trainer online is not as good as the real thing. I’m here to change your mind. I started doing Kayla and I had such a hard time staying motivated and wasn’t seeing results because I couldn’t stay consistent. Recently I started working with @trainerkelli through the @level212 fitness app. It’s COMPLETELY PERSONALIZED! I love it. She asks me what my goals are and tailors my workout to me specifically, so I can focus on which parts of my body I want to improve or what fitness goals I want to achieve. It’s 100 times better than a workout app that has the same workouts for everyone. If I have a really hard time with a certain workout, I can message Kelli and she’ll switch it up or I can ask her for advise on how to do it. She sets up my workouts for how many times I can fit in during the week and I have to check in with her, so I have a lot of motivation and I don’t want to cheat since it’s a real person and not a computer! There are videos linked to each workout and describe and show you how each one should be done. I’m going to be doing a post specifically about this later, but this has helped me so much over the past few weeks because it motivates me to get there! Image-7

Get a buddy!

Lots of people think this means you have to have someone who is going to do your whole workout with you. Most people want totally different results or just have different bodies that respond to different things. If you find someone you totally match with then woo hoo, maybe you found your “swollmate”. However, I think just having someone to go with makes it so much harder for me to say no! Half my problem is just getting there so if I have someone that is counting on me or who is willing to just go at the same time that helps me a ton! This helps me so much, even if it’s just driving to the gym together and we separate and do our own workouts!

Make a Bomb.com Playlist!

What is the worst thing that could possibly happen to me at the gym…forgetting my headphones! Music totally pumps me up and keeps me going! I read somewhere that music actually helps people work out longer and harder. Who needs pre-workout when you have Beyonce right?

Make it Convient for you!

You don’t have to go to the gym for a good workout! If you don’t have tons of time to drive to or spend at the gym, pop in a Jillian Michael’s video at home! Or go out for a quick run! Sometimes I just go over to the gym at my apartment complex when I’m trying to save time. It doesn’t have all of the machines that my normal gym does, but if it makes it easier for me to work out, why wouldn’t I take advantage of it?! Also you don’t have to work out at 5 AM! You workout when you have time. Don’t force yourself to do something that is not going to work for you. Remember we’re trying to make this about loving your workout again!

Set Realistic Goals!

I always over exaggerate mine. I’m like I need to lose 20 pounds! I need to work out every day! But when I look at my schedule 3 days a week seems much more likely. Start small and work your way up to your big goals. By hitting the small steps first you’ll see progress and it will be motivating. Then you can keep reaching for your ultimate goal. I get discouraged when I don’t see it happening right away and I think coming to terms with that will help me in the long run.

Don’t Overindulge, but Don’t Deprive!

As far as a diet goes, my best option is balance. I struggle with eating chicken and rice every day, so I don’t do it. I try to eat healthy, but I don’t deprive myself of a little treat or cheat day! If I go completely crazy on a diet I’m miserable. Some people are amazing at this, but for me a little bit of moderation goes a long way. If you’re miserable you won’t want to stick with it and ultimately you’re not going to see goals.

Have fun! 

If you hate running, don’t run! Maybe try a Zumba class or Yoga! Find what you love and what makes you happy and stick with those exercises. Remember you are not the same as the girl next to you and different things are going to work better for different bodies! If you find something you love, and are having fun while doing it, you are much more likely to have it become a habit and you will look forward to your work out.

MPG Sport Revo Bra Top and Capris

You guys I think this might be my new favorite athletic brand! MPG Sport is freaking cute, but super comfortable! They have the kind of materiel (especially for the leggings) that isn’t too thin that you feel naked, but it’s too thick that it’s super hot and pulls down at your crotch…You guys all totally know what I mean when I say this haha. All Black Camo with Chi Chi Active

Chi Chi Active (fun fact..it’s actually pronounced “she she”) embodies the “live in your activewear lifestyle. You can wear it to work out, but you can also mix it in with your normal wear to create fun every day looks! I am a big fan of these camo leggings. They’re so comfortable, but also supportive, and hello! They’re cute! Also look at some of their sweatshirts, because I think those items have to be my most favorite, especially if you’re wanting to mix them into your every day wardrobe!

Kira Grace Warrior Legging

I feel like I always lean towards black for workout clothes, but these Kira Grace Warrior Leggings have changed my mind. I love love love this royal blue and I think the cutouts make them so fun! I love putting together outfits and finding things that will stand out, so why wouldn’t I do it with my workout clothes too? The fabric is made of moisture wicked supple/spandex so handle sweat so I think these would actually be perfect for a Bikram Yogi class too!

P.S. have I told you how much I love Forever 21’s workout clothes too? They’re surprisingly pretty decent quality! This is one of my favorite sports bras right now and this tank looks exactly like the Nike ones!
