Lace Blouse and Red Slacks

I am so excited for a three day weekend! I plan on relaxing, reading, and laying out a lot! How about you guys?

Here’s an outfit that’s great for the workday, but you could run straight from the office to date night. These are some of my favorites pants because they are way comfortable, but still a little bit dressy. I can dress them up with a blouse or just throw on a tank and wear them around on the weekend. I got them on sale last year at Anthro and bought a couple colors. This year they have a bunch of new colors again, so I recommend that you go get some. I love them!

Summer Hair Tips

Here are a few tips for how to keep your hair under control this summer. Between chlorine, sun, and constant heat it’s hard to keep it healthy, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite products and ideas for how to keep it shiny and healthy.

– Your hair is just going to be a little bit harder to control. Acceptance is the first step.

– Become friends with shine spray. You can spray straight onto your hair (make sure you hold it far enough away or it will make your hair look greasy!), or I like to spray onto my hands and smooth into my hair.

These are my two favorites right now:

So Sexy ‘Smooth and Glossy Shine Serum’ – victoriassecret.comSo Sexy 'Smooth and Glossy Shine Serum'

It’s a 10 Miracle Shine Spray – target.comIt's a 10 Miracle Shine Spray

You can also just use an argan oil as well…my favorite is Josie Maran’s Hair serum, but she also has a regular argan oil that you can use for your cuticles, skin, lips, hair, etc! So you might want to try her regular one as well!

– If you can’t stand frizz, brush and touch your hair as little as possible. Once you get out of the shower don’t rub your hair with your towel…blot it dry. Brush as little as possible. You can air dry and curl define it with your fingers. If you have to blow dry and round brush will help smooth down the frizz.

– Salt Spray is also a great summer hair “accessory”. Especially if your hair is very straight. Salt creates a good texture. You know how your hair looks after getting out of the ocean! Just make sure to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner because it does tend to dry your hair out.

You can just get a spray bottom and add salt to water, but I love Bumble and Bumble’s salt spray. It smells better.

– We love summer beachy waves! Just don’t over think them! During the winter I love to lightly curl my hair for beachy waves, and I will still do this during the summer, but I don’t like to pay attention to them as much. I like them to be more messy. So I either do different sized chunks of curls or some loose and some tighter. But you can also do this without blow-drying. When your hair is damp, put in some texture or shine spray and wrap your hair either in a loose bun on top of your head, or put it in a loose braid. Then sleep on it. Take it out in the morning and you’ll have fun textured mermaid waves! tumblr_m7f490uu1o1r32t61

– Invest in a good leave-in conditioner/detangler. With all of the swimming/hiking/outdoorsyness you will be participating in, you are bound to get tangles.

Again I’m recommending the It’s a 10 brand…It smells great and it’s not too expensive. Plus I feel like this one leaves you with a little bit of shine as well.

– Moisture, Moisture, Moisutre! Your hair is going to get dried out. Make sure to either get a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner or do a hair mask every week or two.

Two great masks are:

How to Wear a Maxi Dress

Summer is coming and that means maxi dress time! For a long time I wanted to wear maxi dresses, but I was afraid to because I’m pretty short and I thought they would look really stupid on me. I didn’t want them to drag on the floor or swallow me up. Not all of us are 5’10’ and have a model figure right? As soon as I figured out how to wear them and what kind looked the best on me, I was in love and never looked back. So here are a few suggestions for those of you that have that same problem. I promise you, you’re going to want to read ahead…

If you are petite…

…empire waists are a do, because they give the illusion of height. Avoid large prints, they tend to engulf you and make you look even smaller. You can always throw on a cute heel or wedge to add height.

If have wider hips…

…pick a dress where the bottom is a darker color than the top (colorblock). Try wearing a belt or a dress with a cinched waist to accentuate your small wait.

If you have an hourglass figure…

…try a fit and flar version of a maxi, with a cinched waist and a full skirt.

If you’re busty…

…look for a V-Neck dress, because they balance out your cleavage with your bottom half. Also, try for a thicker strap so your “friends” don’t look like they are tugging down and trying to get out.

If you have an athletic build (muscular)…

…go for a fitted column shape, with or without sleeves. It makes you look super long and lean.

MTV Movie Awards 2013

The MTV Movies Awards are always sure to provide some interesting entertainment, especially with the outfits that people choose to wear. This year seemed to have some pretty bad ones…just wait until you get down to my “worsts”.

Worsts

Kesha – I really don’t have anything to say about this. It’s like goth mixed with a ghost on drugs who didn’t use a mirror to get ready. Kesha MTV

Kylie Minogue – Apparently she’s going on a trip to outer space…and I HATE that you can see her belly button through her dress.Kylie Minogue MTV

Hayley Williams – ugh.Hayley Williams MTV

Chloe Grace Mortez – The denim is just really restricting. You would think a denim dress would keep her looking young, but I just hate everything about this and then what is up with the grandma shoes?Chloe Grace Moretz MTV

Hana Mae Lee – I don’t think I need to state the obvious about the hat. Terrible. The dress kind of makes her look like a witch. It’s actually not horrible. But all together it’s not good. The shoes might be kind of cool, but they totally cut  her legs off and make her look even shorter. Hana Mae Lee MTV

Bests

Emma Watson – I love this print and the cut. She looks perfect in it!Emma Watson MTV

Amanda Seyfried – I love the style of this dress and the print. I like that she covered the arms, but used the illusion of tan fabric.Amanda Seyfried MTV

Kerry Washington – I posted this before, but I love the idea of this dress. A lot of people didn’t, but I thought she rocked it. A totally different style.Kerry Washington Michael Kors
