Confetti Nails

I found this tutorial on The Beauty Department’s Blog (one of my favs!) and I fell in love with it so I just had to re-post it! I cannot wait to try this out!

There are so many reasons to celebrate — your birthday, friends’ birthdays, holidays and every day in between. Today we’re partnering up with Beauty.com to celebrate theirFriends & Family Event (which is happening now!) and to show you a crafty way to add this pretty party to your nails. My favorite part about this manicure is that you’re just punching out tissue paper circles and applying them to the nail. No major skills required, unlike most nail art! Here we go:

  1. Punch out tissue paper circles. Put about 5-7 pieces on top of each other to get a good solid punch.
  2. Paint the base of the nails with any color you want. We used Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nail Lacquer in Cruising because clearly metallic gold says party.
  3. Use a pen to pick up the pieces of confetti and lay them down on the wet nail polish. Make a couple pieces overlap and/or cut some of the pieces down so you can lay them against the cuticle as seen in the final photo.
  4. Let some of the confetti pieces hang over the edge and trim them down when you’re done laying them all down.
  5. Once all of the pieces are where you want them, go over the whole nail with a good top coat!

Hope you enjoy this, and don’t forget to check out The Beauty Department! So many good ideas!

Brocade Beauties!

A huge trend on the fall runways went back in time to the 17th and 18th century, adopting the brocade trend. Dolce & Gabanna, Balmain, and Salvatore Ferragamo  were among the top designers featuring this trend. Here are ten different items that work this look into every day wear. The intricate patterns will add just the right amount of flash to your wardrobe! I, personally, LOVE the look of embellished jeans. Can’t wait to pick some up!

Style Watch – Rachael Taylor

There is something interestingly different about this Australian actress…She incredibly gorgeous and has her own sense of style. She doesn’t follow the norm, but just seems to exude elegance. You may remember her from the first Transformers, but you can see her now on ABC’s 666 Park Avenue, which I have been totally hooked on! It’s very different from other shows on tv right now and I highly recommend it! Make sure you check it out!

This is my favorite dress…she looks fabulous! I love the simplicity of her outfits, but that she still looks so beautiful.

Fall Socks and Skirts

Socks with skirts are a big fashion trend on fall runaways. They can look really awesome as long as you don’t go too ‘school girl’ or Cher from Clueless with it. But then again, Cher was pretty awesome…

Here are some looks straight off of the runaways that you could try toning down for an everyday fall look.

Would you wear socks with skirts this fall?

Dolce & Gabbana 2012 matched lace knee-highs with the baroque trend…you could mix it with a floral skirt for the same effect.

Marc Jacobs 2010 paired a cashmere sock with a printed skirt. It will keep this toes warm!

Mulberry 2011 put a slouchy ivory sock with a chunky knit together for their fall look.

Vera Wang 2010 barely lets any skin show with their thigh high socks and mini skirts.
