Luke 2

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” – Luke 2:13-14

The Night Before Christmas

The Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

“Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes — how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.”

Christmas Eve

Today was pretty chill. Taylor and I mostly hung out and relaxed. We wrapped presents and chowed on Cafe Rio for his “birthday lunch” since I won’t be here for his birthday in about ten days. As you can see, Tika helped me online shop 🙂

We wrapped presents for my dad (he is so funny about not being able to wrap presents), ate a great dinner, watched “Its a Wonderful Life” while drinking my mom’s hot cranberry drink, and read the Nativity Story.
Pretty soon I will be off to bed! Can’t wait for Christmas tomorrow!

Favorites Lately – Christmas Edition

The Nativity Story – Every Christmas Eve we read it before we go to sleep.

Elf on a Shelf – I think this is such a cute idea. I might have to do it when I have kids to make sure they are good!

Elf – still one of the funniest movies ever.

Christmas shopping! We all know how much I love shopping in general, but I love the smells and wrappings. I like coming home and going shopping with my family. And I really like finding presents for other people.

The Holiday – I love this movie too. I love Christmas movies and I love the people in this. I would probably watch this when it’s not Christmas.

I didn’t get to see the lights this year, but I love the lights at the temple. So pretty.

Christmas Vacation – hilarious!

Christmas Nails – I just did mine in the glitter overcoat from Sephora, but I love the candy cane nails below as well. I need to get a steadier hand though.

The Nutcracker Ballet – I miss this so much! I danced in it every year growing up, and am still in love with it. My favorite ballet.

It’s a Wonderful Life – my family also watches this every Christmas Eve.

Ok…so I admit…I love this song…who doesn’t love to blast this and jump around on the couch or their bed while doing so?

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!
I swear I think I was laughing harder at this book than in Chelsea Handler’s books. (I still love those though)
She is hilarious. I had no idea. She writes stories, funny lists, some advice, and thoughts. I loved it. Definitely a must read. I’ll probably even post a few things from it in the near future because I was cracking up.

Excerpt from the intro:
“However, you should know that I disagree with a lot of traditional advice. For instance, they say the best revenge is living well. I say it’s acid in the face – who will love them now? Another old saying is that revenge is a dish best served cold. But if feels best served piping hot, straight out of the over of outrage. My opinion? Take care of revenge right away. Push, shove, scratch that person while they’re still within arms reach. Don’t let them get away! Who knows when you’ll get this opportunity again?”

Christmas Eve Eve

I got into Cali at about 11 last night. My parents picked me up and we had some food and treats, talked for a while, hung out with my brothers, and then I headed to bed with my little friend, Tika (my dog). I miss her so much so she slept in my bed with me lol.
Today my body decided to be wide awake at 7 am…granted that is 8 o’clock Utah time, but still I thought I would sleep in since I’m on vacation, but no…so I decided that I would wake up everyone else so I would have someone to hang out with. Let’s just say jumping on all the members’ of my family’s beds at 7 am was not very much appreciated. I may or may not have given my parents heart attacks and Adam threatened to shoot me with one of his guns, which are easily accessible seeing as he leaves them out all over his room…psycho. (He is a police officer, not some crazy…for verification…if that counts for any).
This would be my dad dressed up in his awesome spandex outfit for his bike ride. He decided to “dance” and I took blackmail pictures 🙂

Later my dad and I went to his office where he cleaned my teeth, and then we ran some errands.
We picked up my mom and Taylor, had lunch, and headed up for a shopping trip. Made a bunch of stops and ended up at the mall…where I will say my mom and I made out pretty good.
– Ann Taylor – 50% off entire store
– Loft – 40% off entire store
– Banana Republic – 40% off sale, of which basically the entire store is about 50% off already
– Anthropologie – 50% off sale
– Bath and Body – coupons galore
– Coldwater Creek (mom’s store) – 50% off entire store
etc etc
Anyway, as you can see below I’m pretty sure my dad was not super amused. He is definitely dead asleep in the middle of the store, which could be a result of me waking him up at 7 am, but I’m going to pretend it’s not seeing as that’s normally when he gets up for work anyway.

Next we headed to CPK for din din, a few more shops, and home for the last installment of Harry Potter!
Note: this is my brothers’ bathroom…ummm how many products do two boys of age 16 and 22 need? That is WAY more than I own…
